At some point in the house hunting process, you’ll undoubtedly come across a FSBO (For Sale By Owner). Issues can arise and a bit more work may come about from dealing with a FSBO, but for the most part it’s a house that’s on the market and if you want to see it, by all means go take a look. One of the things you’ll want to get out of the way, concerning your agent, is to find out whether or not your agent will receive a commission from the deal. This is important to you because if the owner of the FSBO is not willing pay your agent a commission, you may get stuck doing so. Make sure you read the contract you signed with the agent and their brokerage firm. In alot of cases the FSBO homeowner will pay a commission to agents who bring a buyer to their home. You’ll sometimes see a FSBO sign that says “agents protected”. When you see this you’ll know that they are willing to pay your agent a commission.
